On 22 May the traditional crane workshop was held on Cvjetni trg in Zagreb together with the Travno cultural centre.
Schools from across Croatia brought cranes folded in advance. Two teachers from the primary school in Vinica had run workshops with their pupils on their own initiative and arrived with exactly 1001 cranes.
Since far more than the necessary thousand had been gathered, a representative sample from every school was sent to Japan.
